Het jaar van Fortuyn

A chronicle of the increasingly tempestuous campaign trail rivalry between front-running Dutch Labour Party leader Ad Melkert and flamboyant, skyrocketing populist newcomer Pim Fortuyn as they go head-to-head leading up to the Netherlands’ 2002 general elections, nine days before which the latter fell victim, at the hands of a radical left-wing activist, to the first political murder in the country’s democratic history.
